“I really enjoyed my whole experience, the location, the weather, the walk. It felt wonderful to be realigned and I love hands-on work.” — Sarah H.
Free and Easy Walking
Back by popular demand (and rescheduled from last summer)! This joyful walking experience must be savored to be truly appreciated.
Using the principles of Alexander Technique and mindfulness practices, we will explore how to:
walk with balance and ease;
eliminate strain and prevent injury;
solve foot, knee, and lower back problems;
savor the beauty of our natural world in a local setting.
We'll start with a short easy warmup to establish balance and center our energy. Then we'll apply some basic principles of embodied mindfulness to see how it can help, with optional hands-on assistance. We can troubleshoot some of your specific walking challenges, which helps everyone learn.
Then you will walk — alone or in pairs or small groups, your choice —along lovely hiking paths, practicing what you’ve just learned, experimenting with Alexander awareness in motion.
Finally, we will gather together again to report our findings and share insights.
“I can’t believe how much my walking has improved, just by becoming more aware and making a few simple changes. My daily walk is no longer a chore, it’s a little adventure!” — Cathy M.
This is a chance to activate your senses, get a little clearer about what you’re doing when you walk, and enjoy a late summer walk. Bring a friend, wear sturdy comfortable shoes, and expect to be revived!
