Learn how to be intimate with experience without getting lost in it.
Insight (Vipassana) meditation is a way of mindfully being at ease with things just as they are. In this class you will learn how practicing meditation can free you from the habit of reacting to the conditions of your life with craving, resistance, and confusion.
There are many proven benefits to meditation, from simple relaxation to freedom from suffering and full liberation of heart and mind. Insight practice allows you to:
defuse stress and experience greater calm;
expand your sense of who you are, beyond your usual struggles;
find genuine happiness;
discover inner resources that can change your everyday life;
transform your worldview from one of isolation to one of connection, clarity and compassion.
Over the course of six weeks we will explore the Buddha’s teachings on the human condition of suffering, how that suffering can wake us up, and how to become free of it. We will practice wholehearted acceptance, and gain in wisdom and equanimity.
If you’re someone who thinks you could “never sit still to meditate,” don’t worry -- we’ll explore the four postures for meditation: sitting, walking, lying down, and standing.
If you’ve tried meditation before but didn’t stick with it, this class will be a great way to begin again. You will establish a daily meditation practice if you don’t already have one. If you’re a seasoned meditator, this course can revive or refresh your practice.
