Join me and the Delaware Valley Insight sangha for some time in community practice and reflective sharing.
In Vipassana (Insight) meditation, we practice with “bare attention,” or simply knowing any object as it arises, moment by moment. This is simple, but it’s not always easy. It represents a radical departure from the way we typically experience our lives. So it helps to have something specific to focus on, and a way to frame how we bring mindful attention to the act of meditating.
During this community practice we will anchor our attention by exploring the four elements of earth, air, water, and fire. This practice helps us connect to nature by connecting us to our own nature, because we are nature, too. We will ground our experience in the body, and discover that these four simple elements can lead to a profound understanding of our own experience and our relationship to reality, both internally and externally.
