When we are ill or injured, the most natural instinctive response is to touch, hold, or massage the affected places on the body. When you bang your shin, don’t you automatically bring a hand there and rub it?
Yet mention “self-touch” and see what reaction you get. We have been conditioned to equate touching ourselves with sexual stimulation. This is unfortunate, because there are so many ways to heal and feel better using our own hands (and maybe some simple tools for support).
In this workshop you will reclaim your innate ability to respond to pain with tender kindness and tactile skill. Our brains love this contact between hands and skin, and even the briefest little massage in one small spot will release stress-busting hormones and enhance energy.
You will learn:
how to recognize your own instinctive pain-relieving wisdom
tried-and-true techniques for hands-on help when you hurt
ways to revive your energy when you feel sluggish and down
tips and tools to support your self-care practice
some science behind the physiology of touch
You’ll also get a Resource Sheet with more information and links to more practices.
This will be a hands-on, very practical, safe, fun, and enjoyable experience.
And the next time you wake up with a stiff neck or sore back you will know what you can do that works!
$40 per person.
