Join the WOW community for an afternoon of mindfulness practice, focusing on loving-kindness (metta) and compassion (karuna).
Putting aside our duties, responsibilities, and social engagements for a period of time can be a powerful support for the deepening of insight and for opening the heart into deeper states of compassion and kindness. During this retreat we will maintain a quiet environment, committing to a simple schedule of sitting and walking meditation, with guided practice in both loving-kindness and compassion meditations.
During this retreat we will
practice sitting and walking meditation;
explore kindness and compassion for our bodies in movement and in stillness;
open our hearts through practicing metta and karuna, two of the “divine abodes” described by the Buddha;
experience periods of “noble silence” as well as mindful speech and listening;
give ourselves a break from the demands and duties of our lives.
No prior experience necessary. All are welcome to participate.
