Steadfast In Spite of It All
Under duress we do not rise to our expectations, but fall to the level of our training. — Archilochus
It’s not easy being human, and right now many people feel extra challenged by external affairs at home and abroad, and the inner pressures they've been living with. There are many fears about the future, grief about losses that have been sustained, and hey — it’s the holiday season! That’s been known to bring on a little bit of anxiety too.
It is so easy to get thrown off course, overwhelmed by this fast-paced culture. It can make you want to run away, shut down, numb out, or give up.
You don’t have to do any of those things.
These are the extraordinary times that provide real opportunities for changing the way you relate to your circumstances. Rather than falling into automatic reactions and getting stuck in the stories in your head, you can cultivate embodied awareness to gain equanimity — a balanced, more skillful way to respond when you feel overtaken by worries and looming panic.
In this two-hour workshop you will learn a variety of ways to relate to your heart and mind, and how to cultivate acceptance, curiosity, and care. Using whole body listening, meditation, and discussion, you will discover your innate capacity for steadiness and balance, to meet the ever-changing conditions of your life with less anxiety and more ease.
You will get:
· Mindfulness training to handle pain and overwhelm.
· Methods to gather attention and maintain focus.
· An audio guided meditation for home practice.
